Arne Spangereid

Born in 1981 in Norway, Arne Spangereid is a celebrated artist known for his intriguing fusion of classical techniques and modern expressions. By blending old masters, impressionism, and cartoon art, Spangereid crafts playful interior scenes featuring unconventional elements like robots and rubber toys. Attracted to contrasts and paradoxes, Spangereid employs delicate brush techniques alongside rough tools, such as squeegees and rubber spatulas. By juxtaposing abstract elements with descriptive passages, he creates visually engaging artworks that resonate with life's complexities and meaning. Spangereid's artistic journey includes training under master oil painter Nelson Shanks in the United States, portrait painter Truls Dahl in Norway, and artist and museum curator Ray Spiteri in Malta. His international experiences have shaped his unique style, which seamlessly combines abstraction and realism. Originally inspired by cityscapes, Spangereid spent years capturing the streets of Oslo and New York. In 2022, his life took an unexpected turn, and he found himself immersed in a world of baby toys and cartoon figures, giving rise to his "Disruption" series.
